Testimonials

When I arrived in Wyoming several years ago, I was broken. Traumatic injuries had left me unable to move or remain stationary with any comfort. My healing began when I found Colleen. A competitive athlete and former dancer, she takes a rigorous and creative approach to understanding biomechanics and movement.  She pairs this deep knowledge with a keen eye for individual dysfunction in movement and an empath’s thoughtfulness.  Plus, she’s a blast to work with! Gyrotonic is fluid, energizing and joyful. It lends itself to healing but also to astonishingly deep function and strength. I am more comfortable, flexible, and strong than I have been in 20 years - and I credit Colleen.

I have been a satisfied client of Colleen’s for over four years.  My body shape, posture, strength, flexibility and overall feeling of wellbeing have been transformed under her professional and supportive guidance. I think that the Gyrotonic method is an incredibly powerful discipline, especially in the hands of a skilled practitioner like Colleen. I cannot recommend her more highly.

The Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic methods and Colleen Downard have helped me deal with overuse injuries, tightness and imbalances in my body.  Her focus on my problem areas, along with improving my joint stability has helped me get back on the golf course and back to scoring well.  I look forward to our sessions and I walk away from each with better posture and better balance.  Everything she teaches is great for golfers!

I am writing this in appreciation of Colleen Downard as a trainer and the Gyrotonic program in particular. I have been a student of Colleen’s first in a Pilates program for a few years and then for the last six or seven years as a Gyrotonic student. Colleen is a very professional teacher who is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She has been a diligent student of the Gyrotonic program, and is now authorized to instruct at the highest levels. She is a joy to work with and makes the sessions something I always looked forward to.

I am also impressed by what Gyrotonic offers. Having been developed by and for professional dancers, the instructor uses equipment to put students through a wide range of movements designed to strengthen core muscles, stretch the entire body and help offset the ravages of time. It’s been great preparation for my skiing, biking and golf and I recommend it highly for everyone, athletes and even couch potatoes.

I have had the pleasure of being taught by and teaching for Colleen at her Gyrotonic studio.  Colleen is an amazing teacher!  I took her pre-training Gyrotonic course, and shortly started working for her in Vail, CO.  I have learned so much from Colleen and she truly is a friend and mentor to me.  I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help and support of Colleen.  She is an asset to the Gyrotonic community and to anyone who enters her studio.

Colleen is one of the most enlightened people I have worked with. Her knowledge of the body, what is needed and how she works with different clients is what makes her special. Her dance and Pilates training enhance her knowledge of the Gyrotonic method.

The Gyrotonic method benefits ALL. It reaches places that regular exercise cannot. The exercises are multidimensional, circular and involve many joints. They all can easily be modified for individuals with problems or athletes trying to improve in their sport. Colleen is well trained and I have learned a great deal from her. At 71 years I do not have pain and do many sports thanks to Colleen and Gyrotonics.

Colleen is one of the best exercise and movement teachers with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working.  She is not only an excellent and patient instructor from a technical perspective, but she also shares her enthusiasm and passion for Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis with her students.  Personally, I have chronic neck and shoulder issues from a variety of injuries.  I also do yoga, pilates, and soft tissue work, but nothing has helped alleviate my discomfort better than Gyrotonic.  The way the system lengthens your spine at the same time it strengthens the surrounding muscles is a unique benefit of Gyro.  It is also a fabulous full body workout that requires concentration and the movement of several parts of the body at the same time.
